My daughter Georgia has been having an extremely difficult time adjusting to the recent arrival of her baby brother. There have been lots of temper tantrums and tears in my home. I never thought I would admit this but I have been wishing that I had a direct line to Super Nanny. But thankfully many other Mothers have been offering me some great advice on how to handle this very difficult and delicate moment in the life of my no longer only child.
One great suggestion: try to spend some one on one time with her every day. Just the two of you doing something fun…even if you can only manage 20 minutes…squeeze it in. So today I thought of a craft for us to do together that would literally take 20 minutes. After our mini project, I noticed her smile was a bit wider. And, believe it or not, she even wanted to make a little onsie for “baby boy.”
How to create a handmade tee shirt in 20 minutes:
You will need:
Permanent Markes
Various size glasses (shot glasses, water glasses etc.)
Rubber Bands
Alcohol (in a squeeze applicator)
Cotton Tees
Hair Dryer
Insert glass inside t-shirt and secure open end with a rubber band. Color sectioned off circle with permanent marker. Squirt alcohol over the colored area to spread ink. Continue where and as you like. To facilitate drying, I used a hair dryer and then removed the cups. Once the shirt has completely dried it is safe to wash in the washing machine!
